FAQ

About 1718 Coffee

Where is 1718 Coffee based?

We are based in Dubai, UAE. Our roastery is located in Dubai, where we roast all our coffees fresh before delivery.

What does the name 1718 mean?

1718 marks the year coffee plants first crossed the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas, beginning coffee's global journey. We chose this name to honour the full history of coffee — from its Ethiopian birthplace to the diverse origins we source today.

Who founded 1718 Coffee?

1718 Coffee was founded by Mohamed Hamdou, a specialty coffee professional and head roaster who personally cups, scores, and approves every coffee we sell.

Do you deliver across the UAE?

Yes, we deliver specialty coffee, capsules, and equipment across Dubai and the UAE. Contact us for delivery details and timelines.

About Our Coffee

What is specialty coffee?

Specialty coffee refers to coffee that scores 80 points or above on the Specialty Coffee Association's 100-point scale. It is grown in specific microclimates, carefully harvested and processed, and fully traceable to its origin. All our coffees meet specialty grade standards.

What is the difference between washed and natural process coffee?

In washed processing, the coffee cherry's fruit is removed before drying, producing a cleaner, brighter cup that highlights acidity and floral notes. In natural processing, the whole cherry dries with the fruit intact, imparting fruity sweetness and body. Both methods produce excellent coffee with distinct flavour profiles.

What is single origin coffee?

Single origin coffee comes from one specific farm, estate, or cooperative in a single region. This traceability lets you taste the unique terroir — the soil, altitude, climate, and variety — of that particular place. Our single origin coffees include Ethiopian Sidamo, Kenya Gititu AA, Colombia Huila, Brazil Cerrado, and many more.

What is direct trade?

Direct trade means we purchase coffee directly from producers or cooperatives, bypassing commodity brokers. This lets us pay above-market prices to farmers, ensure ethical practices, and maintain full traceability of every lot we sell.

How fresh is your coffee?

All our coffee is roasted fresh at our Dubai roastery in small batches. We recommend consuming roasted coffee within 6–8 weeks of the roast date for optimal flavour.

Do you offer decaffeinated coffee?

Yes. We carry a Colombia Decaf (Brown Sugar process) and a Decaffeinated Coffee Capsule compatible with Nespresso machines.

Espresso Machines

Do you sell La Marzocco machines in Dubai?

Yes, we carry La Marzocco espresso machines including the Linea Mini (available in multiple colours: red, yellow, blue, black, white), and the Linea PB for commercial use. Please note that discount codes do not apply to coffee machine purchases.

Can you help me choose the right espresso machine?

Absolutely. Our team can advise on the best machine for your home or business. Contact us for a personalised recommendation or visit us in Dubai for a demonstration.
